The font files never do: the browser's Local Font Access API renders everything on your machine, and nothing is uploaded. The one exception is optional — when you pair the Figma plugin, the names of the shortlisted fonts and your sample text pass through the fromT relay so the plugin can pick them up, and are deleted after 30 days or as soon as you press Disconnect.
Chromium on desktop: Chrome, Edge, Opera, Arc. Safari and Firefox haven't implemented the Local Font Access API yet.
No. It only reads the list of installed fonts after you allow it — one permission prompt, revocable in browser settings at any time.
